AUSTRALIAN MIZPAH World War One Sweetheart Brooches Badge
nice condition actual piece shown below -

One Mizpah gold gilt brass metal badge. all original as photo. 35mm at widest. Very common for departing soldier's to give to their sweetheart. I was told that vendors used to stay around departing troops in Australian Ports offering these items. Excellent for medal mounting extra .

Explanation of Mizpah:
It was at Mizpah in Palestine that Jacob and his brethren set up a heap of stones and Laban said to Jacob ' The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another.' Thus Mizpah was used between lovers
which were separated. Mizpah jewellery was very popular around the turn of the 19th to 20th century.
