30th Battalion AIF - PURPLE AND GOLD A History of the 30th Battalion AIF

Military Book by Lieut Col H Sloan. Sloan was a former Adjutant to the 30th Battalion. This is the Official 30th Bn History book compiled and written with the assistance of the 30th Battalion Association, numerous battalion members, and numerous written documents/diary/information.
This military book was first published in 1938.

The book being offered is a professionally produced reprint of that history. It is a true reproduction of the 1938 1st edition book. Even these reprint Battalion History books escalate in value when they in turn, become out of print. Here is your chance to obtain this book that can be treasured  as a hand me down Family History Book.

Follows the 30th Battalion 1st AIF history from its formation in Sydney. Covers Training at Liverpool and later in Egypt.
The Battalion moved to France in July 1916. Immediately, a human tragedy unfolded
as the members suffered at the Battle Of Fromelles . Amongst other notable battles,
the Bn fought at Armentieres , Bapaume , Polygon Wood , Passchendaele , Amiens,
and on the Hindenburg Line. Warfare on the Western Front is described with great
detail . Individual officers and men are mentioned liberally in the text, and
some of the picture captions.

The second part of the book consists of Sixty-five contributions by former members of the Bn. These personal memoirs make this  history unusually vivid and absorbing. A unit Roll of Honour, including details of both KIA and DOW complete this history. A large history, very detailed text  with map picture Illustrations.
