This military book is a record of Australians in the Russian Civil War just after WW1.
It is not widely acknowledged that Australians fought in a Russian Civil War. This war book is the concise history of Australians in that conflict. Comes with a nominal roll. Also has an interesting chapter of the author returning to the battlefield and carrying out basic archaeology of the area.

An extraordinary episode in Australia's military history unearthed for the first time. In 1918, after four years of bloodshed, the Allies desperately stood their ground in the trenches of the Western Front. But when the Russian Bolsheviks came to power and made peace with Germany, the Allies were left reeling. They despatched a secret mission to the frozen expanses of northern Russia to prevent the vast military stores from falling into German hands. Iced-in over the winter and with no chance of reinforcement, these men became embroiled in the Russian Civil War. In spring a special relief force, which included over one hundred Australian volunteers, was sent to extricate them. Landing in the remote northern city of Arkhangel, they battled not only a Bolshevik army, but also a climate of extremes and a wilderness of swamp and melting snow.

The book Anzacs in Arkhangel uncovers the exploits and achievements of these Australians, bringing to light a part of the Anzac legend that is not so much forgotten as never before known.
