History of the Original Poster

A Call From The Dardanelles WW1 poster was commissioned by the Commonwealth Defence Department in 1915. The artist who painted the original art was H Burton. The original poster was printed as a cromolithograph canvas sheet original size being 100 x 74 cm (not this reprint).
It was a patriotic recruiting poster which obviously illustrates an Australian fighting at Gallipoli calling the Australian bush cry of cooee to encourage men to enlist.
The image has been used in numerous books, World War I illustrative matter over the years.
