MALAYAN CONFLICT

Australian Military Books about the Malayan Emergency 1950-60 & Indonesian Confrontation 1962-66. In June 1948 communist trouble began in Malaya. Australian sent 6 Lincoln bombers and DC3 transport to assist ground troops. In 1956, 2 RAR were sent to Malaya and in October 1957 were replaced by 3 RAR. Malayan Emergency ended on the 31st July 1960. A total of 7000 Australians served and 51 died. Indonesia fought against the British Commonwealth forces fro 1962-66. Althoug the main Australian deployment was RAR ground troops supporting artillery and engineers were also sent. The RAN and RAAF were also involved in the struggle with the SAS being deployed in 65.
