Lieutenant Guy Haydon was a member of 12th Light Horse Regiment and was the owner of Midnight the famous light horse. Barney Haydon's horse was called Polo.

Midnight and Lieutenant Guy Haydon, were two of the casualties during the Charge of Beersheba. They made it to Beersheba but as Midnight jumped the Turkish trenches she was hit by a bullet. The bullet continued through the saddle and lodged in the back of Lieutenant Haydon.

Midnight was killed but Lieutenant Haydon recovered from a very painful, serious wound.
