The author is a long time collector of Australian Military uniforms and kit. He has many impressive uniforms in his collection, which are catalogued in this book. Utilising quality photography, this book provides the researcher with superb examples from each of the services as were worn by serving soldiers, airmen (Australian Flying Corps) and nurses (Australian Army Nursing Service). See the pics of the Table of Contents pages above to view the different types of uniforms shown (click on the magnification symbol, then click on photo again for high definition). There are several quite rare uniforms displayed, like the Trooper of the Camel Corps and the uniform of Lieutenant Arthur Barrett 3rd Squadron Australian Flying Corps including Flying Corps leather coat and head gear. There is extensive discussion about the badges being worn on the uniforms and many pages of kit, headwear, webbing, cartridge pouches, bandoleers, gas masks, rifles, periscopes, tank crewman's mask, mess tins, footwear, undershirts and the list goes on.
to name a few of the included uniforms:

The book would be of immense interest to model and diorama creators, artists, along with reenactment enthusiasts or just those wondering what was actually worn by Australian troops in World War I.
It is a distinct advantage to have the photo of the actual attire as worn during the war compared to artist depiction of the uniform as is the case in many uniform and kit catalogues. Fine details can be gained, like the rough stitching of unit colour patches and the quality of fabric.
A valuable addition to Australian Military History.
