Armageddon: Two Men On An Anzac Trail
A century after the Australian Light Horse fought a series of epic and bloody battles against the Turkish Army across the deserts of the Middle East, Paul Daley and Mike Bowers retrace the steps of our men and boys who fought there.
From the enemy trenches at Beersheba where the 4th & 12th Light Horse charged the Turks on horseback, desert retreats, to narrow mountain passes. Paul and Mike visit the hostile and lonely places where our Light Horse Troopers were lost and buried by their mates.
Through battlefields still littered with shrapnel, bullet casings and even the odd human bone, they also reflect on how the turbulent Middle East politics of the present collides with the past. An intriguing journey which has numerous before and after photos and stories (see our pictures above). Highly interesting to both family historians, medal collectors and general Light Horse researchers.
Here is your chance to secure your trip along the present day trail of our ALH Troopers. Whilst many Australians visit the Western Front these Middle East Battlefields are difficult to make travel arrangements. This book also offers a great insight to all that are considering visiting these politically remote places important to Light Horse Military History.
