The formation of the 33rd Battalion took place at the end of 1915 when, in response to an urgent call to arms, many hundreds of raw young countrymen from
the New England district of NSW downed their sheep shears, stock whips, axes
and miners' picks and rallied for King and Country at the Armidale showground.
They gathered into the initial drafting of the 33rd Battalion. They fought hard
for 3 years with battle honours including # Messines 1917 ( Hill 60 ) Ypres 1917 Polygon
Wood Broodseinde Poelcappelle Passchendaele Somme 1918 Ancre 1918 Amiens Albert
1918 Mont St Quentin Hindenburg Line. Extensive detailed nominal roll , chronological
