' Battle Winners ' is a history of the battles of the Australian 6th Division Artillery units (made up off 2/1st Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery (RAA), 2/2nd Field Regiment, (RAA), 2/3rd Field Regiment.

and 9th Division (2/7th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, 2/8th Field Regiment RAA, 2/12th Field Regiment RAA) in the Western Desert from 1940 to 1942.
Thus the book also provides a broad history of those Field Regiments.


The book follows the 6th Division's offensive to Benghazi, the famous Siege of Tobruk. The Battle of  El Alamein is well covered. Likewise excellent descriptions of the organisation, field artillery guns etc, development and artillery tactics of both sides. After HQ command was transferred to General Montgomery in August 1942 the Eighth Army artillery had their extraordinary success at the El Alamein battle.
