Mareeba North Queensland's local historian Michael Musumeci records the bios of the 39 brave young men who paid the ultimate sacrifice from the district while fighting for Australia in World War One. Of course, the number of men who joined and subsequently were wounded were far greater. WW1 had an enormous impact on the small town due to having such a large young male population. The men were mainly employed in the many surrounding mining operations and agriculture.
The book also provides additional local WW1 stories, the History of the Mareeba Soldiers Memorial, the story of the ANMEF, SS Kanowna incident.
The detailed narrative is supported with numerous period photos of the men and district.
