 Barry Heard, the author, provides soldier memoirs of a Australian Vietnam Veteran with 7 RAR Royal Australian Regiment from 2 April 1967 to 25 October 1967. A Nasho who was drawn in the ballot third intake. After local training at Puckapunyal, he was selected in an advance group who went to Nui Dat early to be trained in the lines by 5 RAR who were about to finish their tour. While training with 5 RAR he served within its A Company.  After 3 weeks 7 RAR arrived and he took up his post as a member of 7 RAR A Company sigs - radio operator. First hand account of Operation Ballarat.
