First published by Australian War Memorial in 1986 and this is that edition. This is the story of the Australian campaign on the Island of Bougainville in the south - west campaign WW2. Based on Medcalf's personal experiences as a 19 year old infantry man in the 15th Battalion 29th Aust Infantry Brigade 2nd AIF fighting the bloody campaign on Bougainville. The 29th Brigade was the first into action on Bougainville and remained there until war's end. Gives personal details of soldiers.
