Enthusiasts will be pleased to see that AIF stalwart Pompey Elliott is one of the WW1 identities being portrayed in this dramatised war documentary. The program chronologically explores the Australia of that period, the men, women and the Battles of the AIF. Of course, just following Pompey Elliott alone would open up the program to many of the most famous Battles - the 7th Battalion at the landing at Anzac, Lone Pine and their VC action, the Battle at Fromelles and action at Polygon Wood.
But the series offers so much more with the author of the recent book ‘In Great Spirits’ Archie Barwick being portrayed along with the remarkable wartime experiences of AANS Nurse Kit McNaughton ‘Kitty’Anzac Girl.
A total of 6 Australian identities are followed throughout the war years evocative personal testimonies revealed from their real letters, diaries, speeches and newspaper articles - the events of the war unfold at home and on the frontline.
The War That Changed Us uses dramatic reconstruction, location filming, expert analysis and colourised black and white archive to tell a gripping tale spanning three continents over four brutal years. The events of 1914-18 not only change the course of human history, but would also test the mettle of one of the world’s newest nations – Australia.
