Battle of Krithia, Gallipoli. The experiences of the Australian 2nd Infantry Brigade, which left Anzac Cove in early May 1915, and sailed south to Cape Helles, where it participated along with the British, French and New Zealanders in what is known as the Second Battle of Krithia. It was at the second Battle, on 8 May 1915, that the 2nd Australian Infantry Brigade (5th 6th 7th & 8th Battalions AIF) supported the abortive British attack in the direction of Krithia village and in the process lost nearly a third of its strength.
The 7th Battalion even lost their CO Lt. Col. Gartside in the Battle. A detailed account of a relatively unknown battle which helped to forge the Anzac legend. Excellent written book that follows the history of the Australian involvement in the Second Battle of Krithia. Fully Indexed.
