Pursuit - The Sinking of the Bismarck by Ludovic Kennedy

Pursuit - The Sinking of the Bismarck by Ludovic Kennedy

The Bismarck was the pride of the Nazi German Navy. At over 260 metres long, she was the largest battleship in the world and was certainly one of the most feared ships to the British.

Ludovic Kennedy's account of the hunt, chase, and final destruction of the Bismarck starts when the Swedish cruiser Gotland spots the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen and their destroyers. Thanks to sympathetic members of the Swedish Navy, the Naval Attache at the British Embassy was radioing the information to London the same day.

Excellent description of the last moments of HMS Hood and of the chaos on Bismark just before she went down is vivid.

The story of the Bismarck is indeed one of the great stories of naval warfare.
