The Author, Lt Col Frank Sublet, is the former Commanding Officer of the 2/16th Battalion, this is one of a few detailed studies of the Kokoda and Gona Campaigns. Excellent coverage of the Battles by a Senior Commander who was there! Sublet also writes about the issues such as the reluctance of the Australian Government to prepare before the Japanese invasion of New Guinea. He has much to say about the command problems between MacArthur and Blamey, and the dismissal of Potts, Allen and Rowell.
