C J Dennis books were extremely popular among AIF troops. First printed in 1916, Ginger Mick was an enormous success, selling over 70000 copies in the war years. There was even a format 5" x 7.5" book made which was referred to as the 'trench copy'. The book is dedicated to "THE Boys Who Took the Count ' - a 1982 Reprint of that 1st edition.
