David Burchell was the first Australian who dived on the wreck of the HMAS Perth. USS Houston was thought to have been broken up by the Japanese during the war. The Perth remained intact until Burchell found the wreck. Most of the relics of HMAS Perth that exist in Australia were removed during these visits. This is the story of the discovery and recovery.
