This book honours Tasmanian World War II sailor Teddy Sheean. The story of Teddy Sheehan is one of courage, mateship and honour. A Tasmanian hero who made the ultimate sacrifice and a story  that all Australian sailors can be proud.
Teddy Sheehan was an 18-year-old ordinary Seaman on the Corvette HMAS Armidale.

On 1 December 1942, while patrolling in waters north of Darwin the Armidale come under attack from 13 Japanese aircraft. Two torpedoes struck the Armidale and she began to sink. Although wounded by 2 bullets and the abandoned ship order had been given Teddy Sheehan made his way to the Oerlikon 20mm cannon, strapped himself in and began to shoot. He managed to shoot one of the Japanese bombers before he himself went down with ship.
