A full operational account of 3 Group - the Bomber Command Unit that took part in bombing from the first raids of the war to the last. Equipped successively with Wellingtons , Stirlings, and finally with Lancasters, 3 Group were in the front line from 1939 to 1945Newly equipped with Wellngton bombers, 3 Group Bomber Command carried out one of the first raids of the Second World War - against German warships off Brunsbuttel. The following year, hey were re-equipped with Stirlings, and in 1942 the Lancasters arrived. In Nvember 1943 3 Group were the first to use the radar G-H device in a raid on Dusseldorf. In the summer of 1944, the Group specialised in attacks on V1 flying bomb launch sites, and they also took part in pre-D-Day operations against rail junctions, marshalling yards and troop concentrations.
