The History of the 5th Light Horse Regiment 1914-19 AIF by L.C. Wilson and H. Wetherell - new book
When first published in 1926 only a small amount of books were printed.
Thus the original History is rare and virtually unobtainable.
Family historians have been deprived of important historical details regarding family members who served with the 5 Light Horse Regiment.
A new professional reprint of the original 5th Lighthorse Regiment is now available.
Importantly, it is affordable and is a facsimile so the old age charm of the original book has not been lost.
After the war, two Officers of the Regiment, Commanding Officer L C Wilson and Captain Wetherell set about writing this valuable history. A vast amount of information was gathered from the troopers and the hierarchy of the Regiment. Each officer took on a period of the war and wrote chronologically of the events.
This historical information was recorded into 37 chapters and Appendices.
The narrative has numerous named references to the men and the appendices provide several named rolls;
Summary of Casualties of LH Regiments
Roll Of Officers
Decorations Awarded
Nominal Roll of all Members (with details)
A large history written by those Lighthorsemen who were there!
The cover photo of the book shows one of the more Famous AIF men of WW1, Billy Sing the supreme sniper of the Regiment - The Gallipoli Assassin
